Here is our take on a family favourite. Our easy apple crumble is quick, delicious and low-cost. And if you eat it without ice cream or cream, you will save even more on calories too!

Easy Apple Crumble (serves 6)

Cost of ingredients in February 2021: Approximately R5.95 per person

For the Filling

  • 1 tin pie apples (385g)
  • 50 ml brown sugar
  • 50 ml raisins
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon


For the Topping

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • ¼ cup raw oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Flora Margarine
  • pinch of salt
  • Heat oven to 180 degrees celcius.
  • Mix the filling ingredients in a mixing bowl and pour into a greased pie dish.
  • Using the same mixing bowl, mix the topping ingredients together using your hands. Distribute the margarine evenly so that it becomes crumbly.
  • Pour the topping over the apple filling in the pie dish, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake on 180 degrees Celsius for approximately 35 minutes or until the apple filling starts to bubble around the edges.
